Sunday 11th April - Worthing A Festival
12 Apr 2010
The Under 9's win the cup on glorious day for running rugby at the Worthing A festival
With the sun out and several new faces in their starting line up the Sevenoaks Under 9's got off to a flying start against Worthing B by winning 6-0. This gave the team a huge confidence boost which they needed against Tunbridge Wells in the next match. As with previous encounters with TW it was very tight with both sides making no errors. Halfway through the second half Sevenoaks finally broke through and took the lead. However Tunbridge Wells raised their game and with the final play they managed to level the game with a well worked try. The final game of the group stages saw Sevenoaks beat Trojans 4-1. Now through to the semi final of the cup Sevenoaks were against the red hot favourites Ealing A. Sevenoaks started solidly and there was just no way through their defence and this began to frustrate Ealing. Sevenoaks built on their defence and went on the attack at the start of the second half and opened up a 2-0 that took the match. In the final we were up against Ealing B. The whole team gave 100% and produced a fantastic display of total rugby Sevenoaks took the lead with a try involving the whole team, but almost immediatley Ealing replied to level the score. A draw was called and Ealing B sportingly let Sevenoaks take the trophy home without the need to go to a coin toss.
