14th March - Kent Prelims at Sidcup

15 Mar 2010

The Under 9's finally develop a style of play that is looking very promising

Sevenoaks got off to a shaky start against a very well drilled Tunbridge Wells team who were moving the ball around on a wonderful morning for Rugby. Half way through the first half Wells broke through and scored a well deserved try. Sevenoaks reposnded magnificiently and began to put together several phases of well worked play, however were unable to claw back from a 1-0 deficit. Next up were Ashford in a very physical encounter. Sevenoaks took the early lead with a try from Oliver Green. The second half saw a further try for Oliver Green who was prooving a handful and a popular score for Kamran Amromam who had worked tirelessly. The final game of the group stages was against Beccehamians. Again 2 tries from Oliver Green put the game out of Beccehamians reach and a great break away try by Archie Johnstone sealed the win. This meant Sevenoaks were through to the Plate Quarter finals in a knock match against Aylesford. With all to play for the match was very physical with both sets of boys giving 100 percent. Sevenoaks style of rugby with direct forward play followed by fast supporting runners eventually prooved too much for Aylesford and George Spice's blistering pace set Oaks up for the only score of a tight match. To a boy the whole squad played their best rugby of the year and they now get to travel to Tonbridge Juddians for next weeks finals alongside the other age groups from Sevenoaks Mini section,

Squad; James Blunden, Daniel Mamas, Kamram Amromam, Oliver Green, Tom Harris, James Blunden, Max Humphrey, Phillip Saunes, Lucas Ireland, Archie Johnstone, Ewan Martin, Charle Corrigan and George Spice.
