Our first festival of contact rugby and the boys loved it!!
This was the moment that all the boys had been waiting for and we were drawn in a tough group playing the hosts Medway's A team first up. They were the quicker to the breakdown and used the ball well to get an early lead which Sevenoaks almost clawed back but eventually time ran down and we lost 2-3. Next up were Sittingbourne and the lessons of the first match were learnt and we ran away winners with all the boys playing superbly as a team and with some great individual trys. We won our other 2 group stages with some excellent flowing rugby backed up with solid defence. The loss of our frst match meant we were in the plate competition and we drew a very strong and physically imposing Maidstone team. Our boys played their hearts out and were quick to spot the opposition's move to pass it to the bigger boys and quickly closed them down. The game ended drawn at 1-1 but we lost the trophy on a try countback from the groups stages. The whole team deserve credit for an excellent display of commited rugby. I look forward to many more festivals with tehse boys and I know the silverware will come.
