Sevenoaks U7s win the Crowborough Plate

04 Dec 2006

Sevenoaks U7s won their second piece of silverwear for the season at Crowborough on Sunday. Oaks played Tonbridge, Elthamians and Haywards Heath in the initial group stages and whilst Oaks had a potent attack through strong running from Tuite, Thomas and Chadwick the oaks defence was sometimes suspect.

This lead to a slight change of tactics for the Plate semi finals after consultation with Oldroyd senior the technical adviser. Mclennan assumed the left wing defence position and Walsh the right wing. This shored up the defence and allowed Hickin,Hamilton and Oldroyd to score great tries to beat East Grinstead after extra time.

Well into their stride by this time Oaks overwhelmed Crowborough in the final with excellent work from Rabbitt and the powerful presence of Sinclair to win 5-2 and take the plate
