Sevenoaks U16 22 Tonbridge Juddians 3
11 Nov 2008
Sevenoaks's u16's avenged an away defeat of 3 week's ago when they hosted Tonbridge Juddians in the return fixture on Sunday.
Heavy underfoot conditions contributed to some scrappy & fractured play from both sides although overall Oak's enjoyed a territorial advantage which resulted in them opening their account. From a TJ's 5 metre defensive scrum, a fumble allowed an alert Medhurst to pounce on the loose ball to touchdown.
Despite some resolute defence by the visitors & some too lateral attacking three-quarter play by Oak's, Beale in the centre finally broke through to release Tan on the wing for a corner flag try before TJ's after their best period of play converted a penalty to remain in contention at half time.
Another repeat try for Tan was followed by further territorial pressure by Oak's although their opponents refused to lie down robustly defending their line. Scrum half Ayling was unlucky to have a try disallowed before flanker Bennett making a welcome return from injury intercepted a pass 20 metres out to touchdown with Saunders converting a difficult touchline kick for 22-3 final scoreline.
