Sevenoaks (39) v Cranbrook RFC (22)
23 Oct 2005
With their best performance of the season so far, Oaks U16s beat Cranbrook U16s 39-22 on Sunday to record their first win of the season. Although short of key players, Oaks forwards piled determined pressure on the opposition from the whistle, leading to early tries for Ali Edmondson and newcomer Tom Mackintosh. Undaunted, Cranbrook responded with equalizing tries in a spirited rally led by their captain Tom Jackson. A third try for Oaks, from Chris Lapham, converted by Sam McCorry gave Oaks the lead at the break.
Oaks built on their lead in the second half with determined defence and strong running from the backs as Cranbrook fought to regain the initiative. But Oaks weathered the pressure and although Cranbrook scored twice more, Oaks ran in four second half tries from Jake Middleton, Tom Porter and second tries for Mackintosh and Man of the Match Edmondson to put the match beyond the reach of the opposition.
