Seveonaks 40 v Crowborough 0
15 Jan 2007
Sevenoaks under 15s returned from the Christmas break to face a large and motivated Crowborough side at Knole Paddock on Sunday the 14th of January 2007. It took fifteen minutes or so to blow away the cobwebsand the early exchanges ended with honours even. The packs seemed to well matched and every ruck and maul was fiercely contested. 'Oaks' looked threatening from the outset but early handling errors contrived to deny them the first try of the new year. The breakthrough came from a prolonged period of Oaks'
possession when Weeks finished a flowing backs' move to run in from 45 metres. Spark converted to give the home side a 7-0 lead. 2 minutes later prop forward Soames displayed an impressive turn of speed when he ran through the Crowborough defence from 30 metres out. Again Spark added the extras. The half concluded with another try from Weeks which took the score to 19 -0.
The second half saw captain Crane use his strength and speed to score more or less straight from the restart, Spark converted to bring the score to 26 points to nil. Sevenoaks enjoyed the majority of the possession in the 2nd half and put on an exhibition of open and flowing rugby that was a pleasure to watch. A excellent try by winger Mckenzie and a 2nd from Crane both of which were converted by Spark brought the final tally to 40 points. The game was well contested, played in good spirit and was an superb start to 2007 for the Sevenoaks side.
