Bulls bullied by rampant Oaks!
Sevenoaks denied much fancied Aylesford reaching their first ever Kent Final by reaching their third consecutive one on Sunday.
Although the conditions didn't help either team, Sevenoaks totally outplayed their opponents in every facet of the match and only a couple of late scores, when the match was won and when the home side were down to 14 men and starting to fall off tackles, denied them a more emphatic scoreline.
Early pressure from Aylesford, who started the better side with Sevenoaks being penalised for numerous infringements was soon forgotten, as an innocuos looking punt to clear was allowed to bounce infield by the Aylesford winger and Nohre followed up to score the first try, converted by Saunders. This really set the tone as constant pressure and some magnificient handling by both backs and forwards led to further tries for impressive centre, Short and an inspired Thompson. Only some resolute defence from Aylesford before half time kept the score down to 19-0 at half time.
The expected backlash from Aylesford in the second half, with the conditions in their favour, never materialsied, summed up by the kick off not reaching the 10 metre line. Sevenoaks showed the greater desire and some superb controlled driving play and slick handling saw Nohre score his second and Pettitt, who was magnificent throughout, stretch over for the fifth try, two converted by Saunders.
Next Sunday Sevenoaks represent Kent in the quarter finals of the National Cup; away to Overton RFC in Hampshire.
