Ealing U19 15 Sevenoaks Academy 25

Academy progress in National KO cup

Ealing set their stall from the kick-off driving back down the pitch through their bulky pack.

Strong running was matched by some impressive tackling especially from Gaskill and McCorry but Oaks were starved of possession and only remained in the game through Ealing’s indiscipline.   Twice in the early stages they battered away at the line but their efforts were wasted.

If they were under the cosh up front the Oaks’ backs made good ground whenever they had ball in hand and Field converted two penalties after more indiscretion.

Once past the first fringe defence the back row of Tabor, Hook and Turvey recycled well. McConnochie kicked ahead and collected then fed Kedge who beat two defenders to score under the posts. Oaks led by 13 points at the break and could have stretched away but Barber was pulled back after a forward pass and a couple of penalties went wide.

Barden-Edwards and Barry put up great resistance in the front row and after an attacking 5 metre scrum McConnochie scampered over.

Oaks relaxed a little and Ealing responded with 2 tries through their forwards but the game was put to bed when Naysmith won turnover ball and McCorry broke away. Peters took a heavy tackle but managed to get the pass away for Day to score.
