Good luck - from our professionals

Sevenoaks Rugby is justifiably proud of the fact that no fewer than six of its former players are currently enjoying full-time professional rugby careers, in various different parts of the world; and, this year, we are particularly delighted that all six have sent us messages of good luck for the coming season.

It is my pleasure for this season of 2008/09 to write a ‘good luck' note for Sevenoaks RFC. There has been a lot of change in the structure of the club since I last played for Sevenoaks and I can see that in this era, rugby is very much a ‘professional' sport and winning games has never been more important to a club like this.

Rugby was introduced to me by Rob Allen, and I played with his son David for many years. We were first coached by Justin Court, and then Warwick Bastard soon took over and we experienced much fun and success as a junior side. I enjoyed many happy Sundays at Knole Park.

Throughout my time at Sevenoaks I was fortunate to play with a talented group of players. We enjoyed much success and this helped me gain an appetite to play and train harder.  Opportunities were presented to me that might not have come along had I not had the guidance and support from the Sevenoaks coaches and players.

I'm proud to have been a part of the history of this club and it's now left to the up and coming players from mini, junior and first teams to carry on producing a high standard of rugby and developing individuals.

I'd like to wish every member of Sevenoaks Rugby all the best for this up and coming season. Train with desire, appetite and have ambition to succeed.

God Bless,

Andy

I'd like to wish all the lads at Sevenoaks all the very best for this season. It's a special club and it's good to know that all involved will be doing their absolute best to keep it that way, both on and off the field. And keep a shirt ready, because if Bath persist with this bloody rotation system I might just pitch up for a game (at centre, of course!!).

Good luck,

Flats

Best of luck for the new season! I was watching the results last year as they came through and wishing the best for all at Sevenoaks but it seems it just wasn't to be. I am sure everything this year will be far more successful and I wish everyone involved at Sevenoaks, not just at 1st team level but the whole club, the very best of luck. I hope to be able to come down at some point as Mum and Dad don't live too far away and catch a game - and it would be great to see a Sevenoaks win.

Every success,

Tom

May I take this opportunity to wish everyone at the club good luck for the upcoming season, and I hope that promotion comes, for all involved. It is mainly thanks to Sevenoaks RFC that I am lucky enough to continue a professional career in the sport and I will always look back on my time there with great fondness, particularly winning the Kent cup with the under 17s on the same day the senior team also won the Kent cup.

To the players - I know you are all sore and tired from continual training! It is the most horrible element of our sport but we all have to do it from the worst to the best player, so suck it up and keep one leg moving in front of the other. I will be logging in every week on the website to keep up to date with results and will keep my fingers crossed it is a fruitful season for all teams at Sevenoaks, from the juniors through to the senior sides.

All the best,

Barry

Good luck for the season to all the boys at Sevenoaks RFC! It looks like you're off to a solid start, and with some good luck and hard work you guys will be straight back up to London 2. I played for the juniors at Sevenoaks in all the age-groups from U12 to U17 and not only had a brilliant time, but played some very decent rugby. I seem to remember Blackheath being the only team who occasionally beat us, and it was good fun playing in such a successful team. It certainly got the ball rolling for me to get further with my rugby and I learnt a lot while I was there.

Right now I'm in Auckland, playing for North Harbour in the Air NZ Cup; unfortunately we haven't been too successful. In fact we've already missed out on the top 8, and we're basically playing now to make sure we don't come last in the league! Still, it could be worse - at least there's no relegation!!!
I'm just weighing up where I'm going to be playing after this little stint abroad so

I'll keep you posted with what I'm up to when I know myself!

Good luck again!

Martin

I'd like to wish all at Sevenoaks the best of luck in the coming season. Play hard and get back into winning ways and hopefully you can climb back up into London 2 - the league in which I played my first men's rugby, for Sevenoaks, before turning pro. It was certainly a great stepping stone.

I am now starting a new challenge in my own career, having just left London Irish after 3 fond seasons to join Gran Parma, in Italy.
Best of luck again lads!

Ciao,

Tom
